PROGRAM:

13.30 : “Paradise” (Alexander Abaturov, 90′, 2022)
The heart of a raging forest fire in northeastern Siberia, brought on by climate change. Left to their own fate, the villagers join forces.

16.00 : “Fluid Mechanics” (Gala Hernández Lopéz, 38′, 2022)
In 2018, an incel called Anathematic Anarchist posted a suicide note on Reddit entitled America is responsible for my death. Fluid Mechanics is an attempt to find answers to his words. A virtual drift through the internet in search of his digital tracks that eventually turns into an inner journey between our connected solitudes.

16.40 : “Knit’s Island” (Ekiem Barbier, Guilhem Causse, Quentin L’Helgouac’h, 95′, 2022)
Somewhere on the internet is a land where communities pretend to live out a survivalist fiction. The avatars of the directors of Knit’s Island spent 963 hours there, creating a fascinating film resulting from their encounter with these communities. The “players” reveal their fears and fantasies, in an at times unsettling blurring of the real and the virtual.

19.00 : “Above Water” (Aïssa Maïga, 90′, 2022)
In northern Niger, the village of Tatiste, a victim of global warming, is fighting for access to water. Every day, fourteen-year-old Houlaye, like other young people, walks for miles to fetch water, which is essential to the life of the village. This daily task prevents them, among other things, from attending school. The lack of water also forces adults to leave their families each year to go beyond the borders to find the resources necessary for their survival. However, this region has an aquifer lake of several thousand square kilometers in its basement. All it would take is one borehole to bring the coveted water to the center of the village and give everyone a better life.
